Requirements:
• In-depth knowledge of Teradata technology
• Extensive knowledge of data warehouse and BI techniques
• Understand how Teradata integrate/work with other tools (e.g., SAS, Cognos)
• Ability to translate functional concepts into technical designs
• Leadership and strong communication to influence architecture and design decisions
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
The Teradata Architect is accountable for the following:
• Performance optimization
• Create and maintain physical model
• Source system recommendation
• Define and enforce standards (e.g., naming standards)
• Implement logical and physical data models
• Work closely with DBA to :
o Communicate physical database designs
o Optimize workload
• Collaborate with Data Architects to:
o Design conceptual logical models
o Evaluate model to meet new and changing business requirements
o Develop process for capturing and maintaining metadata
• Integrated design of the future state of EDW in Teradata
• Implementation and support an active/passive architecture between two data centers using DataMover and other technologies
• Track all hours worked and provide status on a weekly basis
• Create and update documentation as needed

• There are still some Database architecture issues that needs to be defined, so there is a big focus on the technical architecture within Teradata.
• They have a Teradata DBA but he is fairly new to Teradata so he will need some guidance.
• How to do App/Dev modeling
• Must know tuning, query optimization, indexes, why are queries running slow
• Solid and proficient SQL skills (debugging, why getting dups)
• They are not using BTEQ, they are using Informatica push downs.  They need to be able to troubleshoot these because the push downs creates views then other views and so on…
• There is nothing scoped out to go from Teradata 13.10 to 14 as of now.  Right now they are on 13.10
• They are in the midst of an Informatica upgrade, not sure what version they are currently on.
• They recently migrated to Cognos 10 and that is up and running.
